An estimated 12 million barrels of oil is required to make that many plastic bags, which in our opinion is really lame! In honor of the upcoming Earth Day we are sharing several tips on how to remember your reusable bags and save the world with one less plastic bag.
Here is the tip countdown:
#5. Set a reminder. If you are a digital native use your smartphone to set a reminder. If you have an IPhone you have “reminders” which you can set to alert you when you “arrive” at a location (enter store address). If you are old school put a “Post It” ” on your door, a mirror or your car. If you are REALLY dedicated, take out a Sharpie and write a reminder all over your hands, arms and heck even your forehead — whatever works for you.
#4. Buy really CUTE and functional reusable bags. You are more likely to want to carry it with you if it is a good looking bag.
#3. Buy a ton of reusable bags and leave them EVERYWHERE. Make sure you are using all of them of course or else you are just collecting waste in your life.
#2. Use compactable bags that you can conveniently shove in your pocket, purse, gym bag, backpack, etc.
#1. If you go shopping and forget your reusable bag, resist the urge to buy plastic. Carry all your shit in your hands and make multiple trips to carry your items to the car. After a few times of juggling a ton of stuff in your hands and dropping things, you will start to remember those bags!
